The Grid

One of the pleasures in working at a radio station is when a producer needs a female voice for a commercial spot, there’s a chance I get summoned to the studio.  The process is pretty simple.  You sit down at the mic, put on the headphones, practice reading your lines a couple of times while the producer checks the volumes, and then wait for your cue.  Bada bing bada boom, you’re on radio!

I love participating.  So, when asked if I would voice a character in a half-hour Halloween special for The Conspiracy Show with Richard Syrett, I was all gung ho.

“The Grid” is an invasion-takeover inspired by the epic science fiction novel The War of the Worlds and a spin on the old-school radio drama form of which The New AM740 – Zoomer Radio is famous for playing (catch Theatre of the Mind Monday to Thursday from 10-11pm for the greatest shows of the Golden Age of Radio, 1930s & 1940s).

Listen here or you can download the podcast at iTunes.  Can you guess which voice is mine?

Thanks to Dale and Paul for including me in this project!  Super fun, but I didn’t get to use my evil laugh.  Muuuuuhahaha!
